Finite Element Analysis

We use several modelling techniques, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to model the behaviour of engineering systems and predict their in-service performance.

Mechanical (displacements, stresses, strains), thermal (temperatures, heat flows) and many other types of behaviour can all be predicted.

Our experience includes:

  • Linear and non-linear stress analysis, including multi-body contact and mechanisms
  • Linear and non-linear heat transfer analysis, including fluid flows and conjugate heat transfer
  • Structural dynamics, including modal, harmonic response and full transient analyses
  • Adaptive processes (e.g. modelling material loss due to wear)
  • Parameter-based and topological design optimisation

We currently licence a range of software including SolidWorks, COMSOL Multiphysics and Midas NFX.

Design

Apogee use SolidWorks to assist our analysis activities and for carrying out design work.

We offer design and prototype manufacturing services using hand and CNC machining and rapid prototyping techniques.

We can also provide prototype and batch production through our network of trusted contractors.
