Apogee was founded in 2008 by Dr Andrew New. Andrew has over 20 years’ experience in engineering consultancy.
He has an enthusiastic, creative and innovative approach to problem solving and prides himself on being able to quickly understand a client’s needs and requirements, to recommend appropriate approaches to solving problems and to communicate solutions in a clear and comprehensible way.
He specialises in stress and heat transfer analysis using finite element (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), but also has extensive experience in physical testing of materials and components and in general engineering design.
Current industries served include heater and heat exchanger manufacture, water filtration, glazing and fenestration, large-scale scientific instruments and electronics enclosures.
He has a particular interest in the orthopaedics and medical devices fields and has published over 25 journal articles related to the design and testing of orthopaedic implants.
Andrew holds a BEng in Materials Science and Engineering from Imperial College London and a PhD in Bioengineering from Queen Mary, University of London. He is a NAFEMS Certified Professional Simulation Engineer at advanced level.
