Apogee was founded in 2008 by Dr Andrew New. Andrew has over 10 years experience in engineering consultancy and has worked on projects as varied as establishing safe practices for lifting lead slabs for radiation protection to the design of devices for assisting blood circulation in the leg.
He has an enthusiastic, creative and innovative approach to problem solving and prides himself on being able to quickly understand a client’s needs and requirements, to recommend appropriate approaches to solving problems and to communicate solutions in a clear and comprehensible way.
He specialises in stress analysis using finite element and other computational methods, but also has extensive experience in physical testing of materials and components and in general engineering design.
He has a particular interest in the orthopaedics and medical devices fields, and has published over 25 journal articles related to the design and testing of orthopaedic implants.
Andrew holds a BEng in Materials Science and Engineering from Imperial College London and a PhD in Bioengineering from Queen Mary, University of London. He is an Associate Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a NAFEMS Registered Analyst at advanced level.
